What started as a co-curriculum activity by a group of highly motivated tertiary students and staff , blossomed into a full fledged troupe in 2003. Its members, bonded by their common passion for the traditional performing arts of lion and dragon dance forged life time relationships with each other through continuing activities.
There are numerous benefits such as physical strength, mental perseverance, team work, inter-personal communications, unity and respect which can be obtained through the practising of lion and dragon dance. The camaraderie formed amongst its members spurs them to achieve academic and personal success in their lives.
This explains why more than 80% of its founding members went on to pursue and obtain at least a bachelors' degree and pursue successful careers in various industries.

The founding members of Republic Dragon and Lion Cultural Troupe. believe that through the relentless pursuit of this traditional art form and the quest for its perfection and professionalism, would in turn promote and preserve the numerous values and intangible benefits derived from this culture.

To promote the positivity associated with the practice of dragon and lion dance and to uphold its professionalism and traditions.
